Groundfish EFH Proposals Available

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

On May 2, 2013, the Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (Council) Essential Fish Habitat Review Committee (EFHRC) put out a “Request for Proposals to Modify Pacific Coast Groundfish Essential Fish Habitat”. Those proposals were due on July 31, 2013. The Council received eight proposals which are available from the Council’s FTP site: ftp://ftp.pcouncil.org/pub/EFH_Proposals_2013/.

The Council’s EFHRC will conduct an evaluation of the efh proposals, and may develop its own proposal, if warranted. The EFHRC will develop recommendations to be considered by the Council at the appropriate meeting. At that point, the EFH review process will be concluded and the Council will decide whether sufficient new information exists to pursue modifying groundfish EFH, through an FMP amendment or other appropriate process.

If you have further questions, please contact Mr. Kerry Griffin, Pacific Fishery Management Council at 503-820-2280, ext. 409; toll free 1-866-806-7204.
