Council and Advisory Bodies: Nominations for 2016-2018 Advisory Body Terms

The Council’s current advisory body term ends December 31, 2015 when all non-agency positions will expire.  Therefore, the Council seeks qualified candidates to serve on its advisory subpanels and committees regarding West Coast marine fishing and habitat issues for the 2016-2018 term.  To ensure consideration, nominations should be received at the Council office no later than October 16, 2015.

Advisory body members who are not Federal employees are reimbursed for actual travel, meals, and lodging expenses up to specified limits incurred while attending official meetings at the request of the Council.  Subject to appropriations, limited stipends may also be available to advisory body members who are not employees of a Federal, state, or tribal marine fishery management agency.

All positions are for a three-year term beginning January 1, 2016 and ending December 31, 2018.  Appointments will be made at the November 13-19, 2015 Council meeting in Garden Grove, California.

This announcement is for the following advisory bodies:

  • Coastal Pelagic Species Advisory Subpanel
  • Ecosystem Advisory Subpanel
  • Groundfish Advisory Subpanel
  • Highly Migratory Species Advisory Subpanel
  • Salmon Advisory Subpanel
  • Habitat Committee (4 public and 2 tribal positions)
  • Scientific and Statistical Committee (7 at-large positions)

Nomination Procedures

Persons interested in applying should review the detailed announcement  for additional information on the composition, operating, and duties of advisory bodies.  Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by other individuals or organizations. may be sent by mail, FAX, or email (see addresses), but must include a completed Pacific Council Advisory Body Nomination Form. The completed form will provide contact information and a brief summary of the nominee’s qualifications for a particular position, including the type and length of relevant experience.  Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by other individuals or organizations.  Current members may be reappointed, but must be renominated.

Download the Pacific Council Advisory Body Nomination Form and fill out the following:

  1. Name of nominee and advisory body position to which the person is nominated.
  2. Present position or affiliation.
  3. Address and telephone number of nominee (include FAX number and email address if available).
  4. Experience (briefly specify the kind and amount of experience that qualify the individual to serve in the particular position).
  5. If applicable, the name, address, and telephone number of individual or organization submitting nomination.

SSC Nominees and Members: Nominees to any SSC position must also submit a Financial Interest Statement, NOAA Form 88-195 to be considered for appointment. Appointed SSC members must file an update with the Regional Administrator for the geographic area concerned within 30 days of the time any such financial interest is acquired or substantially changed. All SSC members must file this form annually by February 1 regardless of whether any information on the form has changed.
